About Us
The Office of Instructional Technology (OIT) supports faculty in the application of appropriate computer-based educational technologies as tools of instruction both in the classroom and at a distance. The Instructional Technology Center, located in the Ryan-Matura Library, room L202, is currently staffed by a full-time director with a background in educational technology, instructional design, curriculum and multimedia development.

The Office of Instructional Technology will promote a system wide knowledge community of faculty, administrators and Information Technology staff to develop technology enhanced teaching and learning opportunities for the university which promote high quality teaching practices and standards
The OIT
Provides a campus resource for instructional technology integration, instructional design for onsite and online learning, and professional development for faculty members seeking skills to support these efforts.
Sponsors workshops and one-on-one consultation services addressing technology integration planning, course design and development, and technical skill=building
Provides administration for the online learning management system and other web-enhanced course offerings.
Researches and disseminates new instructional technologies and teaching strategies which enhance learning outcomes through the integration of technology.

Consultation
Consultation services are available for all of your learning technology questions and needs. We will meet with you at your office, talk over the phone, or communicate via email regarding your issue or need. We offer assistance with many topics including, but not limited to:
- Blackboard course management system (mySHU)
- Designing technology integrated instructional and assessment strategies
- Rethinking curriculum to reflect technology-rich environments.
- Developing media for instruction including interactive multimedia
Development
Whether it's online or in the classroom, OIT instructional materials development services can help you increase the impact of your teaching through technology. No project is too big or small. We have the expertise to create engaging and cutting-edge learning experiences for your students, We will do the work so you don't have to. Examples of projects include:
- Instructional materials that include technology enhanced lessons or activities
- Assessment tools using technology
- Multimedia and/or web-based resources to support teaching and learning activities
Training & Professional Development
OIT provides training workshops and professional development seminars for Sacred Heart University faculty and staff. Examples of workshops include:
- Teaching with technology and integrating technology into the curriculum
- Asynchronous and synchronous learning tools
- Effective practices in online learning
- Using multimedia in the classroom

Instructional Technology @ Sacred Heart University
The Sacred Heart University Office of Instructional Technology promotes the transformation of higher education through system wide vision, leadership and strategic planning in the areas of instructional and distance learning technology. The purpose of the Office of Instructional Technology is to support faculty efforts to enhance the quality of teaching and learning through the effective and appropriate integration of state-of the-art instructional design, pedagogy and technology.
