2007 ITC Summer Faculty Workshop

The Innovative Teaching Coalition Workshop

The ITC Summer Faculty Workshop traditionally offers faculty with an opportunity to share teaching practices and to explore new strategies for overcoming current classroom challenges.  The program is designed to create a ‘community of scholars’ which fosters the rethinking, revising, and transformation of the traditional learning experience through innovative, interactive techniques and engaging modes of instruction.  The Summer Faculty Workshop is committed to the enhancement of faculty instruction.

The Sacred Heart University Innovative Teaching Coalition (ITC) in partnership with the Core Curriculum, Center for Learning and Teaching, the Office of Instructional Technology and the Information Technology division is pleased to announce the 2007 ITC Summer Faculty Workshop- Supporting the Common Core!

This weeklong session will be focused on the support of The Common Core: The Human Journey component of the new Core Curriculum.  A primary goal for the workshop will be to assist faculty to develop strategies for achieving greater cross-disciplinary integration between the four Common Core courses (CC101, CC102, CC103, CC104) through the innovative use and implementation of instructional technologies.   The ITC Summer Faculty Workshop - Supporting the Core Curriculum will provide you with an opportunity to spend an entire week working together with faculty from other disciplines and the ITC facilitators to establish an active community which will foster inter-departmental collaboration.  Through this initiative, faculty teams will work together to continue the development of Common Core courses which will engage students in a common, coherent and integrated understanding of how the four Common Core questions of human meaning and value are reflected in the arts and sciences and in the Catholic intellectual tradition.  The ITC workshop facilitators will work with teams of faculty to explore technology-based strategies for achieving greater integration between the four Common Core courses.

As a result of participation in the 2007 ITC Summer Faculty Workshop - Supporting the Core Curriculum, faculty will:

  • DISCOVER new ways to use technology to teach his/her material

  • INVESTIGATE ways to utilize technology to connect course material with courses from other disciplines
